TriCor (Fenofibrate) tablets are used for two reasons: to help reduce levels of lipids or fats (such as cholesterol or triglycerides) in the blood, and to help increase the level of HDL (good cholesterol) in the blood. High levels of these types of fat in the blood are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries).

TriCor (Fenofibrate) is only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control.

TriCor (Fenofibrate) comes as a capsule to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with a meal.

TriCor (Fenofibrate) should not be taken by people with serious liver or kidney disease, gallbladder disease, or by those who may be allergic or sensitive to the drug. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking TriCor (Fenofibrate). Alcohol can raise triglyceride levels, and may also damage your liver while you are taking this medication.
