Propecia (finasteride) prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT is involved in the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and hair loss.

Proscar is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). Propecia (finasteride) is also used to reduce hair loss due to male pattern baldness.

Propecia (finasteride) is intended for use by men only.

Stop taking Propecia (finasteride) and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives).
