Kenalog is a topical steroid. It reduces the actions of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, redness, and swelling.

Kenalog is used to treat the inflammation caused by a number of conditions such as allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis. The dental paste form of triamcinolone is used to treat mouth ulcers.

Kenalog comes in ointment, cream, lotion, liquid, and aerosol (spray) in various strengths for use on the skin and as a paste for use in the mouth. It usually is applied two to four times a day. For mouth sores, it is applied at bedtime and, if necessary, two or three times daily, preferably after meals. Use Kenalog exactly as directed.

Apply a small amount to the affected area and rub it gently into the skin. Avoid using Kenalog on your face, near your eyes or mouth, or on body areas where you have skin folds or thin skin.
