Hydralazine is used with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Hydralazine is called a vasodilator. Hydralazine works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow through the body more easily.

Hydralazine comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken two to four a day at evenly spaced intervals.

Hydralazine is sold as brand names Apresoline, Dralzine.
