Fludrocortisone is in a class of drugs called steroids. Your body naturally produces steroids similar to fludrocortisone.
Fludrocortisone is used to treat conditions in which the body does not produce enough of its own steroids, such as Addison's disease, and salt-losing adrenogenital syndrome.
Fludrocortisone may also be used for other purposes.
Fludrocortisone can be taken with food or milk to lessen stomach upset.
