Doxycycline is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic derived from tetracycline.
Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic. It fights a wide variety of bacteria in your body, such as Hemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia psittaci, Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoea, and many others. Doxycycline is used to treat many different bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, among others. You can use Doxycycline for acne treatment as well. Doxycycline is also recommended for the treatment of Anthrax.
Doxycycline is used in the treatment of infections of the skin, bone, stomach, respiratory tract, sinus, ear, and urinary tract. Lyme disease and certain sexually transmitted diseases (gonorrhea and chlamydia) can also be treated with Doxycycline.
Do not take Doxycycline just before going to bed. It may not dissolve properly when you lay down and can cause pain in your throat. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine to also help reduce irritation in your throat.
Do not use doxycycline if you are pregnant. It could cause harm to the unborn baby, including permanent discoloration of the teeth later in life.
