Losartan (Cozaar) is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Losartan (Cozaar) keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.

Losartan (Cozaar) is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to reduce the risk of stroke in people with hypertension. Losartan (Cozaar) is also used to treat kidney problems in people with type 2 diabetes.

Take this medication with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. Losartan (Cozaar) can be taken with or without food.

To be sure Losartan (Cozaar) is helping your condition, your blood pressure will need to be checked on a regular basis. Your kidney function may also need to be tested. Do not miss any scheduled visits to your doctor.
