General Info:

Actos is an oral diabetes medicine that help control blood sugar levels. Actos is for people with type 2 diabetes who do not use daily insulin injections. This medication is not for treating type 1 diabetes.

Do not use Actos if you have type 1 diabetes, or if you are in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis (call your doctor for treatment with insulin).

Actos is usually taken once daily. You may take the medicine with or without food.

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Actos. Alcohol lowers blood sugar and may increase the risk of hypoglycemia while you are taking this medicine.
